  1. Ironically in all ESL or TEFL books written by British people always involve sentences like, "I need a whisky" or "I'll have a whisky."

  2. Yes, the Brits love whiskey. Vodka. Wine. But mainly it's beer. For hundreds of years the British drank beer instead of water because the water was too full of gunk to drink. So even little children were drunk most of the time. Some historians have blamed catastrophes such as the fire of London on the general drunkeness of the population. Nowadays you only have to step into any British high street on a Friday night to recreate its inglorious, drunken past.
